Dont't Put it Down, Put it Away!

As spring arrives, so does the urge to clean, reorganize, and refresh. It's a time to declutter, let go of the old, and welcome the new. In the midst of this seasonal renewal, I remind myself of the simple joy in taking a deep breath and refocusing on the tasks at hand.

At some point in my lazy scrolling, I stumbled upon a saying that stuck with me: "Don't put it down, put it away." This mantra has been a lifesaver amidst the chaos of everyday life. I've learned that taking just 10 seconds to put something away while it's in my hand is far easier than dealing with it later when it's become a nagging mess. Duh, right? So, so, simple yet so often I found myself putting something on the bench in my haste to get it out of my way in the moment to just having to clear off the bench a few hours later, every day all the time. Wondering why I felt like I was always cleaning and not getting anywhere. It's slightly better but now I've even placed a few empty baskets around the house; if there's something out of place but no time to properly address it, I simply toss it in the basket to deal with at the end of the day. It usually is the kids' toys, an article of clothing they throw off, or a hair bow that I do all at night at one time. Now, I don't feel like I am constantly running around cleaning things and getting nowhere in the big picture.

I believe I picked up this tip from someone on Instagram, and it's been a game-changer. My monthly promise to myself is to organize at least one small thing, whether it's the spice cabinet, art supplies, or even just sorting through batteries and light bulbs. There's always something that needs a bit of tidying up.

One aspect that demands regular attention is the budget. Whether it's weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly, keeping track of expenses is crucial. By organizing my finances into categories and prioritizing debt repayment over minimum payments, I've found a sense of freedom from financial stress. It's all about taking small steps toward organization and refreshing your life and your wallet.

Remember, if you haven't started small, start there. Little wins can make the task of organizing much more manageable. Find a system that works for you, and take those small steps toward getting your life and your finances in order. Spring is here, time to clean it all up!
