Hey there, wonderful readers! I am absolutely thrilled to extend a warm welcome to all of you who have discovered Youth Financial Initiative (YFI). My name is Samantha, though I often go by Sam, and I am honored to serve as the Events & Engagement Director here at YFI.
My journey with YFI has been nothing short of incredible, and I am truly excited to be part of an organization that embodies values such as guidance, direction, resources, boundless possibilities, and a sense of community as we continue to grow. From the very moment I learned about YFI's mission, I felt an immediate and profound connection.
Allow me to share a bit about what fuels my passion for this organization. I am the proud mother of two amazing daughters, and like every parent, I want nothing more than to provide them with the very best opportunities in life. Education, I firmly believe, is the key to unlocking those opportunities. Throughout my life, I have adhered to the principle of "Always be a student of life, and continue learning throughout your journey."
Yet, when it came to finances, I found myself navigating uncharted waters. Growing up, I had received little to no education about the intricacies of financial management. While I knew how to be frugal and conscious of my spending, concepts like investing, saving, and budgeting seemed distant and irrelevant to my current circumstances. However, reality hit me like a ton of bricks.
My journey through various jobs began at the tender age of 14, and throughout my college years, I juggled one or two jobs at a time just to make ends meet. Student loans and credit card debt started to pile up as I struggled to stay afloat, all the while thinking that living paycheck to paycheck and borrowing money were normal rites of passage. I believed that the path to financial security was something that would naturally evolve with time. How mistaken I was!
It is this realization that fuels my dedication to YFI's mission today. I am here to ensure that others do not have to face the same struggles I did. We can all learn, grow, and thrive with financial stability, regardless of where we stand today.
Through YFI's programs, resources, and community support, we aim to empower you with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the world of finance confidently. Together, we'll debunk the myths, break free from the cycle of financial instability, and embark on a journey towards prosperity.
